E-Dancer   A member of the techno elite, Kevin Saunderson, along with Juan Atkins and Derrick May, helped originate the Detroit sound. The futuristic Motor City music has now mutated beyond its origins into a million different blends and is exploited worldwide by DJs, producers and record companies. But as much as the dance world has changed over the last decade, some things stay the same. Sticking to the KMS label, which he founded in 1987, Saunderson continues to release underground records -- in this case, tracks from recent twelve-inch records released under the alias E-Dancer. The Carl Craig remix of "World of Deep," one of the standout tracks, sticks to drum machine and synthesizer sequences that aren't too distant from the raw techno sound of the late '80s. But why should the visionaries change when their music still sounds fresher than anything The Prodigy might produce? Grainy, funky and still assembled in a home studio, E-Dancer keeps things simple while Kevin Saunderson remains underground.
